The Symptoms and Signs of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)

The illness usually begins with a fever (measured temperature greater than 100.4°F [>38.0°C]).

One or more clinical findings of respiratory illness (e.g. cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, hypoxia)

After 2 to 7 days, SARS patients may develop a dry, nonproductive cough that might be accompanied by or progress to the point where insufficient oxygen is getting to the blood. 

One or more of the following :

1. Close contact within 10 days of onset of symptoms with a person who has been diagnosed with SARS.

2. Travel of History within 10 days of onset of symptoms to an area in which there are reported cases of transmission of SARS.

  It may be associated with other symptoms including :

1. Headache

2. Muscular Stiffness

3. Malaise 

4. Confusion

5. Rash

6. Diarrhoea
